How to Make Pie Crust: Recipe Demo for Vegetarian Homemade Pie Dough, Turnovers, Savory Tarts -Choose your own adventure in this video! After watching the demonstration of the crust, you can choose your next video based on how to use the crust: spinach turnovers and/or a French mustard tart!

This recipe comes from Deborah Madison's "The New Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone."

After the demonstration of how to make the pie dough, you will have the choice to continue on to a demonstration of spinach turnovers or a French mustard -you choose which direction to go!

Ingredients:
1.5 cups of flour (can be 1 cup of all-purpose white flour and 1/2 cup of wheat flour)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup cold butter
3 to 5 tablespoons ice water, as needed

Mix the flour and salt in a bowl, then cut in the butter, using your fingers or two knives, until it resembles coarse meal. Lightly stir in the water a tablespoon at a time until you can bring the dough together in a ball. If crumbs remain on the bottom, add a few drops of water so that you can pull them together as well. Shape the dough into a disk and roll it out into a circle 1/8 inch thick. If the dough is so warm that it's sticky, refrigerate for 15 minutes, then roll it out.
